Making Quality Tubes & Cores for Over a Century

Making Quality Tubes & Cores for Over a Century

100 years of knowledge

Then…

Since its inception in 1923 by visionary entrepreneur Alfred Davies, Birmingham Mailing Cases Ltd. has continuously evolved to meet the changing needs of the market. Originally established as a box factory, Alfred quickly recognised the untapped potential in manufacturing cardboard tubes. Thus, he embarked on a journey that would revolutionise the industry.

In the early days, cardboard tubes were crafted by rolling lengths of card over a metal mandrel, a process commonly referred to as “straight wound”. While we still utilise this technique for certain cores, our commitment to innovation and progress led us to adopt the more advanced method of spiral winding for most of our tube production.
This transition exemplifies our dedication to staying at the forefront of manufacturing technology.

Now…

Throughout the years, Birmingham Mailing Cases Ltd. has remained a family business, proudly passing from generation to generation. Today, we are in our third generation, with occasional contributions from the fourth generation, ensuring that our rich heritage and family values continue to shape our company’s ethos.

As we look to the future, we remain steadfast in our commitment to excellence, innovation, and providing exceptional customer service. Birmingham Mailing Cases Ltd. stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of a family-owned business that adapts to the ever-changing demands of the market while staying true to its founding principles.
